Beni Rugs

Handwoven in The Atlas - Customized for you

In small communities in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, hand-woven rugs are created today in the same way as for thousands of years - all by hand, one knot at a time. Traditionally, each rug carries a story from the weaver and the weaver's skill is evident in every knot.

The craftsmanship goes on for generations and the whole process from wool to finished rug is created entirely from traditional methods.
At the foot of the Atlas, the shepherd collects wool from the sheep's winter wool, which is then rinsed and washed in the rivers. Craftsmen then spin the wool in long threads with only their hands on wooden sticks. The yarn is left either as natural or colored with natural pigments.

The weaves then begin the long process of weaving a rug. Each mat is woven by the same weaver from beginning to end, completely by hand.

Your unique Beni Rug is made for you after order, entirely by hand from 100% natural wool, which means that there will be naturally beautiful variations in pattern and color. These variations make each rug truly unique. The designs are scaled depending on the size of the carpet.
